A high-risk out-of-state warrant was served on an individual early Tuesday morning.

On Monday, September 20, 2010, the Hitchcock Police Department recieved a call from Mississippi Department of Corrections in reference to an individual living in Hitchcock who was wanted on an outstanding Parole Violation Warrant for Possession of Marijuana with Intent to deliver. There were reports that the individuals was heavily armed with assault rifles and advised his family members that he was not going to go back to jail. Family member came to the police department stating that they did not want to return to their home because the wanted individual had threatened to kill them as well. There were also reports of possible narcotics activity on the property.

Based on the high risk of the situation, the Hitchcock Police Department contacted the Houston Police Department SWAT team, as well as the US Marshalls, DPS Narcotics and Galveston County for assistance. The Hitchcock Police Department, in conjunction with assisting agencies, converged on the property early Tuesday morning before daylight hours.

The warrant was served sucessfully without incident.
